Evolution Web Quest

Chemistry played a major role in the creation of the Earth and the life on Earth. Chemical reactions produced RNA that created a foundation for life on Earth. Early life was able to form because it was provided with a container that could maintain and protect, and genetic material (DNA and RNA) that served as the manual or recipe for life. In the past, living conditions allowed the RNA to evaporate and then fall from the sky; resulting in the creation of a ribo-nucleotides . Also in the sunlight, the RNA transformed into a different base.

The Wonders Of Biodiversity

We have been experimenting and evaluating on a plant called Collard Green. The plant is edible and provides our bodies with rich nutrients and lots of vitamins. It is long, chunky, and grows really fast. It also has the ability to protect itself from the sun. Using a punnet square and studying meiosis, I can infer the types of traits the plants offspring will have. Through crossing over, the specific alignment of their genes, independent assortment, and through the whole process of meiosis, the plant will pass over crucial genetic information that will be used for the formation of a reproduced version of the original plant.

There is nothing we can be without our companions, the bees. None of this beauty we see every day will be around if we continue letting them disappear. Sadly, humans do not realize this situation. It is oblivious to humans, the smartest beings on this planet, but not to all the other animals. The other animals understand the importance of bees and how they are the basic life unit for every consumer. These wonderful creatures produce our food. Without them everything will perish.

One of the biggest thing killing bees is the toxins and pesticides that are used in fields today, which is caused by humans. A question has been asked of: When will people “wake up” to the problem of the disappearance in bees? Honestly, I don’t think humans will be realizing this problem any time soon. If the problem is brought up, many will not see the importance of a simple bee. The only way I can see people realizing this situation, is if they are educated on the importance of bees in our ecosystem and all that they do and provide for us.

If this situation is never understood, then it will affect the earth tremendously. Especially since bees will continue to die and eventually be gone if things do not change. Without bees, no plants can get pollinated and many will not survive. Some plants that may not survive can be some of the most important to humans and their lives. I just hope that others can come to realize the problems of bee and our ecosystem today.

Recently, bees have been dying in large numbers. The colony collapse has been blamed on many things. Introducing bees from Australia, resistant diseases, and pesticides. However, the general public does not care that much about the dying of bees. Some things must have to happen in order to increase public awareness.

There could be actions done by the government, but since the opposite of PROgress is CONgress, you can't do much there. It would have to come in the form of making companies not use the harmful pesticides, by either protest or boycotting. There could, however, be the hard way.

The issued could be forced in the public spotlight when honey and food prices increase to noticeably inconvenient levels. Then, There would be an actual crisis at hand. People would actually start to care and the issue would be a priority in the government, and something would actually get passed.

That is why there is a need for public awareness. People will either get aware through others speaking up, or the hard way where people are actually inconvenienced.

Bee Essay

Bees, they sting, they can kill some of us, and they might even scare some of us. Yes they are annoying but they are a big key to our society. So we need to react really quickly to this whole colony collapse disorder, because it is bringing our world down to a fall. Bees have been considered sacred animals all there life, why do we not still consider them as sacred animals anymore? These bees are dying every second and if we do not start reacting to this we might not be able to live.

In the egyptian times, the bees were considered sacred and were for bidden to be touched or harmed, and only the bee keepers were allowed to take care of them. The beekeeper job is a really important one  even now, that bees are being more and more extinct. These bees are dying because of commercial bee keeping, which is really bad for the bees because, they are injecting the bees with really bad chemicals which are shown to make bees produce honey faster then organic bee's, but has really bad side effects.

We should not be thinking about how much honey or how much bees wax bees are going to give us, we should be worrying about how many bees are left and if we are going to have to create more of the bee hives so that the bees now were to go if they would ever be in trouble.  Most people might think that bees are not really important and all but they are really important to our world and society.

In my opinion it will take a massive hit in the back of the head for us to wake up, and to understand that this is really bad! That we should not be playing with bees and let the bees do their own thing. I think the worst that can happen is that there are no more bees, and if there are no more bees their is no more light and we would not be able to survive. There are many issues we have with this colony collapse disorder and if we do not fix it we might face really bad things in the future.

This quote was used by Vincent in the begininng of the story whenever he was talking to Irene, and looking up in the sky whenever another ship flew up. Vincent says this because i think he got to his goal really quick and not think he would ever get here as quick. Vincents goal was to go to space but he was not able to do it because since he was young he had a heart problem and you were not allowed to go to space with a heart problem. Vincent finally reached his goal at the end of the movie and got into space. The basis of this quote is to never quit and to keep trying even if you can not try no more. 

GATTACA Response

"I was never more certain of how far away I was from my goal than when i was standing right beside it."
             This quote was used by Vincent when he was a janitor for GATTACA, when his dream was to work there instead of being a janitor. Vincent had a goal of pursuing a job there since he was little. However, his genes and traits were not at the acceptance level as they required. When he got a job as a janitor, he was able to be there and see how everything works. He was also able to see the shuttles take off everyday. That was also his  ultimate goal, to fly in a shuttle. His dreams later came true, thanks to Jerome. Jerome had passed the genetic test and was ready to work there. However, he was hit by a car and broke his spine, which placed him in a wheel chair. GATTACA would not let Jerome work there if he showed up in a wheel chair that he would be in permanently. Vincent had treatments done in order to look like Jerome. He then posed as Jerome and got his dream of working at GATTACA. Later, he was able to go in a shuttle and fly to space.
